This is Bridgestone New WeatherPeak Tire to compete Goodyear

I was recently invited to test drive the new bridgestone weather peak tire and compare it head to head with the goodyear assurance weather ready which the weather peak targets head on and to compare it head to head with bridgestone's own necopia 422 plus i'll explain why in this article as we talk tires?

So bridgestone is currently touring north america with what they're calling a drive and learn event now this invitation only event features a number of their tires but really the stars of the show are two new bridgestone products one is the weather peak all season tire and the other is a new performance tire that's under embargo until september 7th now what that means is that we the media can't really talk about it until then so consider subscribing or just come back on september 7th.

If you'd like to be one of the first to learn about this new mystery tire when that article goes live so back to the weather peak i had a chance to compare it with goodyear's assurance weather ready as well as with bridgestone's own akopia 422 plus on a makeshift track that bridgestone set up in the parking lot of one of the venues they used for their drive and learn event so let me tell you a little bit more about how we compare these tires with one another bridgestone equipped six identical bmws with three different sets of tires the weather peak the ecopia and the goodyear weather ready they then wet down the track with a water.

Truck and they let us loose to enjoy now why were we looking at these three tires in particular well the weather peak is brand new so brits don't want it to show it off the acopia 422 is being phased out and replaced by the weather peak so bridgestone wanted us to see how much better their new tire is versus what it's replacing as for the goodyear weather ready bridgestone sees it as a direct competitor to their new weather peak tire.

So they wanted us to see how the two compare so what's the verdict when it comes to the ucopia and the weather peak there's really no competition the new weather peak blows the occopia out of the water the bmw equipped with the ucopia tires had an impossible time in the corners and on the slalom i managed to knock down several cones and just trying to pull the bmw with the copia tires out of a corner the weather peak on the other hand took the corners without even breaking a sweat the grip was excellent and the bmw it behaved predictably so replacing the ecopia with the weather peak in bridgestone's touring tire.

Lineup gets two thumbs up from me this tire is just so much better now how about the goodyear weather ready well the difference there was nowhere near as dramatic goodyear's tire offered excellent grip excellent control the bmw handled predictably and no cones were sacrificed in the making of this article however from a purely subjective point of view it feels like the bridgestone weather peak was just a bit better i say subjective because we weren't given the opportunity to do any objective testing like measuring breaking distances of various speeds on wet and dry pavement it just wasn't that kind of event and although it felt like the weather peak offered just a bit more grip and tight corners and on the slalom part of the course.

I left wishing that i had more time to put these tires through their paces because they seemed to be so evenly matched it would have been great had bridgestone taken us to a real track and we had a whole day to really push these tires to their limits but even with the limitations of the venue we had at our disposal the differences between these tires well the differences were clear and we were able to walk away with two key takeaways number one which stone has done an excellent job with the weather peak.

They say it replaces the acopia 422 plus in the touring tire lineup and that's a dramatic upgrade this tire is just so much better the other takeaway the second takeaway is that the bridgestone weather peak is going to give the goodyear assurance weather ready a run for its money during the event one of bridgestone's spokespersons uh admitted that good here's goodyear sells a ton of these tires and that bridgestone is eager to compete with goodyear in this particular segment well mission accomplished the weather peak is a worthy competitor now if you'd like more information about the bridgestone weather peak tire and how bridgestone thinks it will change the way we all think of all season tires.
